Christmas In The Air

The misty mornings of November
Gradually give way
To the cold snap of December
And there’s winter on display

You’ll look upon a Dickens choir
In every single square
Standing round a smokey fire
There’s Christmas in the air

When the nights are getting longer
And the whole world’s (slowly) slowing down
But the wind is getting stronger
All the trees have lost their crowns
We’re staying in and taking stock
Another year is counting down
The first snow is a minor shock
Until we see that
Christmas’s comes to town

All the leaves have fallen
And everyone agrees
That in the blinking of an eye
The world seems filled with Christmas trees

It’s been a long time coming
You hear it everywhere
Bells and chimes and singing
There’s Christmas in the air

Underneath the Christmas tree
Are gathering the gifts
And outside the windows
Snow is settling down in drifts

We all behave a little better
Use the finer tableware
We’re wearing ugly sweaters
When there’s Christmas in the air

Candles too are burning brighter
Despite the darker days
Everyone is feeling lighter
In more than just one way
